Artists stage sit-in at Lamphel, condemn Nongshum incident

The Film Forum Manipur, Manipur State Sumang Leela Council and All Manipur Performing Arts Community jointly staged a sit-in protest in front of Tantha Polis Cinema hall at Lamphel, Imphal West, condemning the recent incident at Nongshum-Khongbal Tangkhul that claimed lives and left several people injured.

Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, AMMIK secretary Konthoujam Bobin stressed the importance of mutual respect and solidarity among artists from different fields.

He appealed to all concerned not to resort to forms of agitation or impose restrictions that could adversely affect artists whenever issues arise in the state. Instead, he urged them to explore alternative means of expressing their grievances without disrupting the livelihoods and professional activities of members of the artistic community.

Bobin further stated that artists are an integral part of the state’s identity and cultural heritage. He called upon the public to support and appreciate the contributions of the artistic community.
