AMAWOVA observes 37th Foundation Day

The All Manipur Women’s Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) observed its 37th foundation day in a simple manner at its head office in Keishampat on Friday, in view of the prevailing situation in the state.

In a press release, AMAWOVA general secretary K. Nandabati said the association was established on October 24, 1989, with the objective of building a just and developed society in which men and women enjoy equality.

She highlighted the significant role played by women throughout Manipur’s history in protecting and shaping society, citing the historic Nupi Lan movements as an example of women’s collective strength and contribution.

The association had initially planned to celebrate the foundation day at the Manipur Press Club with a programme featuring songs. However, the event was postponed in view of the prevailing situation, and the occasion was observed in a simple manner at its Keishampat head office.

As part of the observance, members of the association also visited Raj Medicity, where injured persons are undergoing treatment, and extended financial assistance towards their medical expenses.
