Apunba Thounaojam Sagei Trust observes first Foundation Day

The Apunba Thounaojam Sagei Trust observed its first Foundation Day at Imphal Talkies, Imphal, today, recognising members of the Thounaojam clan who have excelled in various fields and organising a voluntary blood donation camp at the Department of Transfusion Medicine, RIMS.

During the Foundation Day programme, former Union Minister of State and Padma Shri awardee Thounaojam Chaoba, Managing Director of Lainingthou Charitable Hospital, Nambol, Dr Thounaojam Nabakishore, and senior members of the Thounaojam clan, including Thounaojam Tombi of Singjamei Leishangthem Leikai and Thounaojam Jotin of Keishamthong Longjam Leikai, attended the event.

Members of the clan who have made notable contributions in different fields were felicitated with traditional attire and citations in recognition of their achievements.

As part of the programme, 16 blood donors belonging to the Thounaojam clan from different parts of Manipur voluntarily donated blood at the Department of Transfusion Medicine, RIMS.

Speaking on the occasion, Padma Shri Thounaojam Chaoba said members of the Thounaojam clan have made notable contributions across various fields. He pointed out that the clan has produced elected representatives, including two MLAs, while several members have excelled in academics, including Gold Medalists, and in the medical profession.

Chaoba said the achievements of members of the clan should be accompanied by a sense of social responsibility and urged the Trust to extend assistance to needy children and others in society, particularly in the fields of education and healthcare.
