Imphal, July 16:

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in Manipur has raised demands to state government, ranging from the appointment of regular authorities in DMU to reservation of students belonging to economically weaker sections. These demands are aimed at addressing critical issues in the state’s education system
During a meeting with the Governor and Chief Minister of Manipur, ABVP representatives discussed various pressing topics affecting students and educational institutions.
The discussion covered the current scenario of education in Manipur, addressing the ongoing educational crisis and challenges. ABVP emphasized the need for the prompt implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 in Manipur. They also stressed the importance of establishing permanent campuses for DMU, MTU, and MUC, and the appointment of Vice-Chancellors and faculty members.
Improving infrastructure, admissions, examinations, and the timely declaration of results were highlighted as essential steps. ABVP also called for the opening of one Government Post-Graduate college in every district and one Under-Graduate Government college in every subdivision. The formation of a committee to ensure private universities and colleges comply with UGC norms was another key point.
ABVP has advocated for the implementation of reservation for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) in Manipur and addressed significant challenges in conducting examinations timely and fairly through the Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC).
