The first District-Level Patriotic Poem Writing and Recitation Competition was successfully organised at V.N. Model English High School, Kwakta Bazar. The event aimed to promote patriotism and literary creativity among students through poetry and performance.
The competition was graced by veteran journalist and language activist Leihaothabam Saratchandra, founder of V.N. Model English High School Md. Kamaruddin, Assistant Professor of Political Science, Moirang College, Dr. Md. Rafijuddin Shah, and President of Jamiat Ulama Kwakta, Moulana Islauddin Qasmi, as chief guests and presidium members.
Altogether 27 students from 13 schools across Bishnupur District participated in the competition. In the results, Rukeiya Chesam, a Class 9 student of M.S. Creative School, Kwakta, secured the first position, while Laishram Lanthoi Chanu of Career Foundation School, Class 8, and Nongmaithem Bidyaluxmi Devi of L. Dhananjoy Memorial English School, Class 8, bagged the second and third positions, respectively.
The winners were awarded cash prizes, certificates, and mementos, while five students received consolation prizes along with certificates. All participants were presented with certificates in recognition of their efforts.
Delivering the keynote address, Robina, MIL Teacher of V.N. Model English High School, said that the competition was organised to instil patriotic spirit among students and encourage them to express their love for the nation through poetry. She remarked that such initiatives play a vital role in nurturing creative talent and fostering unity among the younger generation.
