The Manipur Meitei Pangal Welfare Organisation (MMWO) organized the 3rd state level Kayamuddin Kshetrimayum Memorial Poem Writing-cum-Recitation Competition at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul on Saturday. The event was graced by Er. Mohd. Riyajuddin Khan, Superintending Engineer of the Electricity Department as Chief Guest and Bobby Korimayum, President of MMWO. Eminent writer-poet Dr. Raheijuddin Sheikh and Sahitya Academy Translation Prize 2021 winner M.M. Ahmed were also present in the event. MMWO President Bobby Korimayum on his address, spoke about the role of the competition in bringing together the Meitei Pangal community and the many indigenous communities of Manipur together and the importance in highlighting the writing of Meitei Pangals in the state. He also spoke on the need for centralization
The event, which has been organized yearly since 2022, commemorates the legacy of Meitei Pangal writer Kayamuddin Pukhrimayum and his extensive contributions to Meitei-Pangal literature through his acclaimed poetry and journals. The open-spot poem-writing competition was conducted first, followed by the recitation and the prize distribution ceremony.
