Moirang, March 9:
A 15-day Non-Residential Boxing Camp, organized by the Khoijuman Apunba Chaokhat Thourang Lup under the Bishnupur District Amateur Boxing Association, began today at Khoijuman Bazar Community Hall. Held under the theme “Come and Build the Foundation of Your Own Dreams,” the camp aims to nurture young boxing talents in Manipur.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by CRPF Commandant and Arjuna Awardee Nameirakpam Kunjarani as the Chief Guest. Joining her were L. Dhitta Singh, President of Khoijuman Apunba Chaokhat Thourang Lup, as the Functional President, and renowned boxer and Superintendent of Police (Sports) Laishram Sarita as Guest of Honor. Also present were M. Ramani Chanu, Centre In-charge of SAI STC, Imphal, and L. Sunil Singh, Secretary of the Bishnupur District Amateur Boxing Association.
Speaking at the event, N. Kunjarani highlighted the camp as a platform for aspiring boxers to develop their skills and reignite Manipur’s sporting legacy. Expressing concern over the state’s recent decline in sports performance, she encouraged young athletes to embrace hard work and dedication to bring glory to their state and country.
The event also featured an exhibition boxing match showcasing both boys and girls, adding excitement to the camp’s launch.
