Youth’s Forum for Protection of Human Rights (YFPHR) expressed serious concern over the negligence of Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and District Child Protection Unit, Imphal East District by not giving serious attention to the victim of Sexual Assault which occurred on the February 26, 2020 at 11:30 pm at Hiripak Loukol, Nongada Shantipur by two person and leaving the victim unconscious on the field.
A statement said that as the victim girl is undergoing serious trauma, the DCPU and CWC Imphal East failed to provide proper psychosocial support to the victim neither failed to processed for the interim compensation when it is in need for the medication of the victim girl. It is in need of the hour to provide proper care, counselling, medication, etc, which is still yet to be provided by the mentioned institutions.
Such inaction of the Child Institution of the state is not the first time being witnessed by YFPHR in the state of Manipur but have witnessed in many instances in connection with sexual assault cases occurred in Manipur.
The YFPHR appealed the Social Welfare Minster, Chief Minister and Manipur Human Rights Commission to review the functioning of the Child Institutions of Imphal East District and the state in general which are presently being remained as name sake child institution.
