Seminar on Rural Women Empowerment to be held at Central Agricultural University

A special one day seminar on issues related to empowerment of Women will be held at Central Agricultural University, Manipur tomorrow (5th March). Ms. Nemcha Kipgen, Minister for Social Welfare and Cooperation, Government of Manipur will be the Chief Guest on the occasion. Renowned writer and former Chairperson of Manipur State Commission for Women, Smt Jamini Devi will give the keynote address.

The seminar will be addressed by the Vice Chancellor of CAU, Professor M Premjt. Singh and Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Andro, S. Molibala Devi, on the theme – Role of Nutrition in Women Empowerment. Eminent journalist Smt. Ng. Liklaileima Arambam, will speak on ‘Women in North East: Issues & Achievements’.

The week-long campaign ahead of International Women’s Day on 8th March, 2020, is being organized all over the country by the Union Ministries of Information & Broadcasting, Women and Child Development, Health and Family Welfare, Human Resource Development, Agriculture & Farmer’s Welfare, Rural Development, Housing and Urban Affairs, Finance, Defence and Home.         The themes of the campaign are: education, health and nutrition, empowerment of women, skills & entrepreneurship, participation in sports, special circumstances, rural women and agriculture and urban women.
