World Toilet Day Marked with Hygiene Emphasis in Jiribam

IT Correspondent
Jiribam, Nov 19:

The significance of World Toilet Day was underscored on Sunday in Jiribam, where the Jiribam Municipality Council orchestrated a day dedicated to raising awareness. As part of the observance, a comprehensive cleaning initiative targeting public toilets unfolded at Babupara, Jiribam.
Y. Khemchand, the Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RD & PR) and Municipal Administration, Housing & Urban Development (MAHUD), graced the event with his presence during his visit to Jiribam. In discussions with the media, Khemchand emphasized the pivotal role of hygienic and sanitary facilities in averting various diseases.
Highlighting Jiribam Municipal Council’s noteworthy achievements, Khemchand commended the council for clinching the Clean City Award three times consecutively in the category for cities in the North East with populations of fewer than 15,000 people. Despite the aging infrastructure of public toilets, he lauded the council’s exemplary maintenance efforts.
“The Manipur department concerned takes pride in this recognition”, Khemchand stated, emphasizing the council’s commitment to upholding cleanliness standards in the region.
