The College of Community Science, Central Agricultural University (Imphal), Tura, Meghalaya, celebrated World Mental Health Day today, with a program focused on the theme “Mental Health at Work.” The event aimed to raise awareness about the significance of mental well-being in professional environments, promoting the development of supportive and healthy workplaces.
The program, held in the Conference Hall, was coordinated by Dr. Narmada Hidangmayum, Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies. Teaching and non-teaching staff of College of Community Science, as well as Krishi Vigyan Kendra(KVK) scientists from East Garo Hills and South Garo Hills participated the programme.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Jyoti V. Vastrad, Dean of the College of Community Science, who emphasized the role of educational institutions in fostering environments that prioritize mental health. She highlighted the importance of collective efforts in breaking the stigma around mental health in the workplace.
The keynote address was delivered by Nagaraja Pani, Program Manager at Narayana Health, Bengaluru. His presentation, “Mental Health at Work,” explored into the effects of stress, fear, and trauma on both mental and physical health. He offered practical strategies for promoting workplace well-being, including the 20:20:20 rule for eye care and the 30:30:30 rule for physical activity.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Narmada Hidangmayum, who expressed her gratitude to the participants, speakers, and organizers for their contributions to the success of the event.
