World mental Health day 2020 was observed at the Auditorium of IRE college of Teachers Education Wangjing today. The observance is jointly Organised by District Mental Health Programme District Health Society Thoubal and Youth volunteers Association (YVA) Wangjing. Dr N Jayantakumar singh CMO Thoubal, N Bijoy Singh Vice chairperson Wangjing Lamding Municipal council , Dr H Jina Devi district Nodal officer DMHP Thoubal and A Kameshwor singh District social welfare Officer Thoubal as Chief guest president and Guest of honour.
In the sideline Dr H Jina expressed the Mental Health issue in Manipur and the importance of observing World Mental Health Day. The theme of this year is mental health for all. Greater investment, Greater Access, Everyone, every year. She said that Manipur has a higher prevalence of Neuro Psychological disorder than psychosis in other states.
A Kameshwor Singh DSWO Thoubal spoke on Nasha Mukta Bharat Camping Thoubal in his resource person speech.
Dr N Jayantakumar Singh CMO Thoubal expressed that we young peoples of the society should take important role in creating awareness on mental health among rural masses to prevent suicide by young people.
N Rajiv Kumar Singh principal IRE College of teachers Education said that we common people neglect mental health while giving importance to physical health. Manipur being the border state and near to the Golden triangle became an important transit route for drug smuggling and easily available.
N Binoy Singh vice Chairperson WLMC stressed on the role of youth clubs to create awareness on mental health.
