Jiribam, Feb.12:

With an aim to provide functional tap water connection to every household under the Central scheme Jal Jeevan Mission, the Manipur government has also taken steps to construct water tanks at various places in rural areas of Jiribam District.

The construction works of the water tank are in full swing and are expected to complete within a few months and to provide safe drinking water to every household.

Concerning PHED, Jiribam Division officials took all the necessary measures and inspected the worksites regularly. But the irony was that the construction works of water tanks were carried out based on the 2011 department census. However, the present number of households in some of the villages where construction is going on is quite unmatched.

In connection with this, while talking with the correspondent of Imphal Times A.E PHED,  Jiribam Division W. Manaobi said the department is making all efforts to fulfill the supply of water through pipelines in each and every household.

He also assured to fulfill all these shortages by applying some additional measures in it.

At present construction work for settling tank, slow sand filter and reservoir tank is going on at 11 sites where some of the water tanks is completed almost 90 percent and remaining work will also be accomplished as earliest, A.E PHED, Jiribam Division added.
