Showing solidarity to the demand for the inclusion of Schedule Tribe of Meetei/Meitei spearheaded by the Schedule Tribe Demand Committee, today President of Women Association for Social and Economic Development (WASED) RK Tharaksana announced that their organisation will join the mass rally organise on March 3.
She added that almost all the communities residing in the Manipur are included in the ST list and is saddened that Meitei/Meetei was left out even though they fulfilled all the categories of being a schedule tribe. She also said that the people generally the Meetei/Meitei are in a state of being submerged as there isn’t any constitutional safeguard to protect them. And as the people aren’t protected various factors affect the Meitei.
She finally appealed the government to give recommendation and let the Meetei/Meitei be included in the Schedule tribe list and get protected through Constitutional safeguarding mechanism.
