Widespread Protest against CAB continues

The contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 has led the state to be in a perpetual protest. Everyday different forms protest held at several places by different organisations and Meira Paibis but mainly spearheaded by the six students’ organization and JCILPS. Meetings, conventions and discourse were also held to address the issues of CAB.
Today as a part of the protest against the bill several Meira Paibis and clubs staged sit-in-protest against the bill.
Speaking to media persons General Secretary of Iramdam Kanba Apunba Lup (IKAL) Wahengbam Luwangleima said that the protest was held to condemn the controversial CAB which passed at Lok Sabha. She also appealed to withdraw the CAB. She added that the bill will highly impact on Manipur and it will also lead to genocide of the indigenous people of the North East. If the Bill is passed at Rajya Sabha and becomes an act, the migrants will surely flooded entire North East leaving the faith of the indigenous people at stake. She added that they will support the movements spearheaded by the six students bodies against the CAB and will also intensify it.
The protest was organised by IKAL at Uripok near Cheirap Court.
Also similar sit-in-protest against the CAB was held by the Meira Paibis, clubs and locals of Keishampat Keisham Leikai, Uripok Khoisnam leikai, Uripok Laikhurembi leikai and Ghari Awang Leikai.
