Imphal, July 28:
Various civil society bodies of the state have questioned the rationale behind the government decisions to start the issuance of ILP to outsiders who want to enter the state.
Special Home Secretary Gyan Prakash, in an order, had stated that issuance of the ILP permit to outsiders will start from July 21.
Civil Society organizations United Social Development and Educational Organisation and All Khangabok Labour’s Welfare Union questioned the government about the urgency of allowing outsiders to enter the state when it is known that the novel coronavirus has been transported from outside the state. What urgency has compelled the government to take the decision of issuing the ILP to outsiders when the present crisis because of the COVID-19 pandemic is on the rise.
As a measure to combat the COCID-19 pandemic, the state government had suspended the issuance of ILP to outsiders since March 18. The virus that has been carried from among those people (sons and daughters of the state) who have returned to the state and was confined to only those who return from other state, has now started spreading to people who have no travel history. Health workers who have been spending days and nights to provide treatment to the people tested positive with COVID-19 pandemic now have got the virus and some health workers who work close with infected people too have been tested positive.
The Two organizations questioned the rationale behind the motive for bringing in the outsiders by issuing them ILP at this crucial hour
