We don’t want to stay at pre-fabricated houses, we want to return to our homes at Moreh – IDP inmates

Internally displaced people (IDP) seeking shelter at a relief camp at Wangjing Lamding Higher Secondary School after being driven out from Moreh town by Kuki militants today stand tight with their decision to reject the government plan to shift them temporally at the pre-fabricated houses constructed by the government at Yaithibi Loukol in Thoubal district.
Inmates taking shelter at the relief camp today convened a meeting and adopted the resolution for rejecting the government plan to shift them to the pre-fabricated houses.
“We don’t like to stay in the temporarily constructed pre-fabricated houses, instead we want to return to our houses at Moreh”, an IDP told media persons. He added that if the government wants to restore our normal life they better arrange for the safety of our resettlement at our own houses at Moreh.
The inmates at the Wangjing Lamding Higher Secondary School, however, appreciated the government for their support by providing essential edible items as well as timely treatment of patients by providing doctors and medics. For over six months we have been living like refugees in our own state. It is a fact that we are being provided food shelter and medicines in this relief camp but that is not what we like; we want to return back to our houses.
The inmates appealed to the government to arrange re-settlement at their own houses at Moreh instead of trying to shift them to pre-fabricated houses on a temporary basis.
