In a heartfelt response to the ongoing ethnic conflict and the hardships faced by internally displaced persons (IDPs), the Ningols of Korea Manipuri Association (KMA) have decided to dedicate the funds traditionally allocated for Ningol Chakouba celebrations for Supporting IDPs amid ethnic conflict as humanitarian cause.
A statement of the Association said that Ningol Chakouba, a cherished festival symbolising the bond between sisters and brothers, takes on a poignant significance this year as KMA and GMF South Korea Chapter join hands for a greater humanitarian cause.
“KMA, in solidarity with the affected communities, has decided not to celebrate Ningol Chakouba this year”, the statement said. Adding that the funds earmarked for the celebration, combined with generous contributions from the Ningols and support from GMF South Korea Chapter, was dedicated for supporting relief camps for IDPs affected
by the ethnic conflict.
This initiative underscores the collective responsibility felt by the Ningols of various Manipuri communities living outside elsewhere for their fellow Manipuris enduring hardships due to the conflict.
“During these challenging times, the essence of Ningol Chakouba extends beyond our immediate families to encompass the larger Manipuri family. Our decision to dedicate the celebration funds towards IDPs serves as testimony for our hearts, mind and feelings for standing together united, despite physical distances, with our unfortunate IPDs in the face of adversity brought by the ongoing conflict,” stated the joined Ningol Team of Korea Manipuri Association and GMF South Korea Chatper.
KMA and GMF South Korea Chapter calls on the broader community to join hands in supporting this compassionate effort. The combined team believes that by standing together united at such critical times, and not making feel the IDPs are left alone, the Manipuri community can bring about positive change and alleviate, to some degree at the least, the sufferings of those severely affected by the conflict. And finally, both the organisations hope that the on-going conflict and the deep humanitarian crisis caused by the conflict comes to an end soon, the statement by KMA Ningols in association with Ningols of GMF Korea Chapter said.
