All sections of people irrespective of age are being affected by the nearly six months old crisis in the state. Of these, around about 60,000 people are internally displaced in their own state. The state at present is in chaos with authority still way to go in finding a solution. For Children, though affected, many measures are taken up for their welfare. For aged people in relief camp, seem to lost hope with nothing to do with departing days coming closer. This crisis has not only made the life of aged people in relief camps a life of hopelessness but to all aged people who are staying in their respective houses. The horror story of clashes, gunfights, killing have even made their life miserable.
Thanks to Kangla Acupressure Alternative Therapy Treatment Research and Training center, an NGO located at Langjing Achouba in Imphal West. It was a traditional culture of aged people passing their time watching Manipuri traditional performing art – Wari Leeba. The aged people both men and women used to enjoy Wari Leeba – a storytelling performing art of Manipur. The performer in traditional attires and rituals starts the story of Ramayana, Mahabharata, Khamba Thoibi, and many other legendary stories.
With aims to provide recreation to the aged people and also celebrate the International Day of Older Persons 2023, the Kangla Acupressure Alternative Therapy Treatment Research and Training center organized a 5 day Wari Leeba festival which concluded today.
The closing function held today was attended by Padmashri N. Kunjarani Devi, Commandant Group Center, CRPF Langjing, as Chief Guest. Many others including the advisors of the Center’s run Old Age Home were also attended.
Yuva Puraskar Awardee Takhellambam Shyamkanyai’s performance in narrating the series of stories for five days enthralled the aged people who didn’t miss a single day.
