Villagers demand restoration of TD blocks

LAMKA, Aug.12: Populace of remote and hilly villages of Thanlon, Singngat, Tipaimukh, and Henglep Sub-divisions of Churachandpur district has faced hardship for more than 10 decades since all the TD Blocks were shifted to the district headquarters.All this four sub-divisions villages has been deprived of various central sponsored schemes with the exception under ICDS anganwadi centres which have been no kitchens, PDS items, and MGNREGS for a long time after all the TD blocks which was moved to the district headquarters in 1997 during Kuki – Zomi ethic clashes.Singngat, Thanlon, Tipaimukh, and Henglep T.D Blocks was inaugurated by the then Manipur Chief Minister Rishang Keishing in 1985-1988, however it was moved to Churachandpur district headquarters by the state government with a citing security reasons.According to chief of Bukpi village under Thanlon T.D Block Mangpu Naulak said all this four TD blocks chiefs are mischievously taking all the benefits of the villagers. Her further alleged that the students in the village have to face a lot of difficulties while taking tribes certificates domiciles and other documents by travelling in accessible roads to reach the district headquarters.He further said that there are over 3,000 beneficiaries of Old Age Pension schemes in these four sub-divisions of Churachandpur but they often have to forego it because of the awkward situation in the state government.
