Tension runs high in Mayang Imphal area after a person who was thrash by the people for stealing gas cylinder and handed over to police succumbed to his injury today morning. Report says, a person identified as MD Habib Rahman (30) son of Md Amuba Mayng Imphal Irong Makha Leikai was caught while stealing a gas cylinder from the residence of one Yumnam Sharat (34) son of Y. Ningthouchao of Mayang Imphal Chabung Company Leikai at around 9 pm. He was thrashed by the locals and handed over to police. Police reportedly admitted him to PHC Mayang Imphal but he succumbed to his injury at 5 am today. Following the death, locals of Poabitek area blocked the road at Paobitek area in protest against the killing.Police source said that the person was handed over by the locals in critical conditions.
