US Consulate’s train-the trainer workshop underway in Imphal

A five day train-the trainer workshop for US Consulate’s entrepreneurship program Academy for women entrepreneurs (AWE)alumni and other entrepreneurs in Manipur was started at the JCRW Global College at Babupara in Imphal from August 10.
An English language specialist Dieter Bruhn from the US is conducting the training program under the initiative of the US consulate General Kolkata in partnership with the Regional English Language Office (RELO) of the US Embassy in India.
In this training session, Dieter Bruhn will work with a group of the participants in Imphal to develop a curriculum where the workshop participants can use a key training tool with peers. The training aims at honing the business communication and presentation skills of the participants with a focus on networking, negotiating, elevator pitches and formal pitches for specific audiences. The program will prepare them to deliver a winning business pitch in front of a live audience including investors, industry leader, entrepreneurs and academicians.
On the first day of the training, 11 out of 21 registered participants’ took part in the training programme.
On August 16,the last day of the five-day workshop in Imphal, the participants will make presentation of their final pitches and Dieter Bruhn will hand over the certificates to the participants encouraging and motivating the women leaders to continue training other women entrepreneurs in their circle so that they get noticed by investors and secure fundings for their ventures.
In his remark on the opening day of the programme, Deputy Director Mathew Bikoff of American Center Kolkata wished them well and said Language empowers and educates and this is what makes us different. For we are not here to teach you just English but attitudes, determination, networking, public speaking and effective communication which will enhance your skills and prepare you to present your ventures better. Language matters being visible matter, you and your work matter and make a tangible difference.”
Such training was conducted in Ranchi and Patna last month while in Dimapur last week. It will be conducted in Kolkata as well in the coming weeks.
