A statement by Shanta Nahakpam, General Secretary of ERDO, Kangleipak elaborated on the impact of the economic blockade on the people of the state. It said that all people particularly those living from hand to mouth are affected by economic blockade irrespective of differences in the community. The statement appealed to understand the inner meaning of the provision provided under Article 371 C, for the promotion of the suppressed area and thus give some autonomy. It should not be misinterpreted as a weapon of some vested interested people as a tool that provides them the power to demand more and more autonomy.
It said that ERDO with other traders and manufacturers will take the help of law and demand compensation for the loss if any economic blockade is imposed on the Highways.
