Proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF), Manipur and its armed wing Manipur People’s Army (MPA) has condoled the demise of its member Ngangom Binodkumar, who passed away due to an illness on February 21 morning.
A statement by M. Sak-hen, Dy. Secy. of Publicity UNLF, informed that Binod was born to Ngangom Ibohal and Ibecha Leima of Haobam Marak on January 16, 1943 as the second child among eight siblings.
He passed matriculation in 1966, married Mutum Tampakleima on May 6, 1975 and joined UNLF in 1968 and played important roles in different capacities in the freedom struggle.
He spent some time in jail after he was arrested in 1969.After his release, he remained active in party related activities and guided several youths, who want freedom, into the front.
He was also a farmer with zeal to bring self-reliance in terms of food, which is one of the objectives of UNLF.
He had remained as member of the advisory committee of UNLF.
Till his last breath, he strived to bring unity, and promote patriotism among the youth of Manipur, the statement said.
UNLF and its armed wing Manipur People’s Army (MPA) give revolutionary salute to the departed soul and also share the grief and pain of the bereaved family while praying for his soul to rest in peace, the statement added.
