Proscribed group United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has claimed responsibility of yesterday’s blast at the gate of Manipur Legislative Assembly at which 3 persons including a BSF Jawan and two Security personnel of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
“The blast that occurred at 5.35 pm yesterday evening at the Assembly Campus which injured a BSF personnel was conducted by a special team of the tactical Unit of Manipur Peoples’ Army (MPA)”, said a statement of the outfit.
The UNLF however expressed regrets to the injury of two security personnel of the Manipur Legislative Assembly –Maibam Monoranjan of Nambol Sabal Leikai and Yambem Jony of Charangpat Mayai Leikai, due to the impact of the blast.
The UNLF statement said that such attack to armed security force of India will continue until Manipur regain its sovereignty. The statement appeals the Manipur Police Commando, MR and IRB personnel to stay away from the Indian security force.
The BSF Jawan injured in the blast has been identified as RK Mishra from Madhya Pradesh. He was on sentry duty as dog handler at the time of the blast.
Speaker, Assembly staffs protest

Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Y Khemchand along with the staffs of Manipur Legislative Assembly today staged a sit-in-protest in front of the gate No. 2 of the Assembly secretariat in protest against yesterday’s blast.
Talking to media persons Y Khemchand while condemning the attack urged to clarify the reason behind the attack. He said that attack to the Assembly Secretariat is attack to democracy and such attack need to be condemn by each and every people.
