Unknown miscreants shoot a Railway project labourer, survives miraculously

Imphal, Nov. 18:

A labourer of the Railway project survives miraculously after unknown miscreants shot him at their worksite located near Awang Khunou in Imphal West district. The incident happened at around 5.30 pm yesterday evening when the said labourer identified as Abdul Malik (25 yrs), son of Muhammad Ali of Kalapakani Khanda of Dubri District in Assam hit at his right upper chest and penetrated at his back side. Report said that he was shot while he went for buying water bottle.

He was immediately rushed to RIMS, where he was treated and survived miraculously. A case has been registered in connection with the incident at Patsoi Police station.

It may be mention that two persons sustained minor injury at a bomb blast near the gate of RIMS here in Imphal under Lamphel Police station at around 9.30 pm of November 16. Police said the Bomb as an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). Reason behind the blast is not known as of now, but source said that police are investigating over the matter and a person has been picked up for interrogation.

Top police officials rushed the site soon after the blast and inspected the site. A top official term the blast as an act of cowards and said that their main target is the innocent civilian.

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh also condemns such act and said that his government will not spare any persons involved in the terror act.
