Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India has assured to look into the issues of disabled persons of the state. In an official letter sent to the Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons signed Pankaj Kumar , Officer on Special Duty, of the Ministry, it has been stated that the Ministry has directed the concern state government department to look into the issues of the disabled person. The directive was given in response to a memorandum submitted to the Ministry by Moirangthem Premier, Secy. of the Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons. The memorandum sent via email and by fax urged the Ministry to appoint a full time commissioner of the Disabled, to frame a state policy for the disability and reservation of 3% seats in government jobs as according to the provision of the PWD Act 1995. Other charter of demands sent to the Ministry includes arrangement of special room for the disabled in government offices and passenger buses.
