In a recent exclusive interview with Hornbill TV, Union Minister of State for Education and External Affairs, Dr. R K Ranjan Singh, discussed the ongoing challenges faced by Manipur amid the violence and the potential election prospects for the BJP in the state.
Reflecting on the turbulent times Manipur has experienced over the past 10 months, Dr. R K Ranjan Singh addressed the pressures he has personally faced, including the unfortunate incident of his house being burnt down by a mob. Despite these challenges, he emphasized the importance of diplomatic efforts and dialogue in resolving conflicts, highlighting the need for people-to-people conversations to foster understanding and peace.
Dr. R K Ranjan Singh commended the timely actions taken by the Indian government in response to his requests for increased security personnel and compensation for victims of violence. However, he acknowledged that challenges still persist in certain remote areas, urging for continued efforts to create a conducive atmosphere for peace, including the involvement of respected civil organizations and religious leaders.
When asked about the BJP’s prospects in Manipur as the elections approach, Dr. R K Ranjan Singh emphasized the party’s commitment to welfare and development initiatives. He cited Prime Minister Modi’s frequent visits to the Northeastern region, including Manipur, as evidence of the government’s dedication to the region’s progress. Dr. R K Ranjan Singh expressed confidence in the BJP’s popularity among the peace-loving people of Manipur, citing the party’s track record of delivering social welfare schemes directly to beneficiaries.
Regarding his potential candidacy in the upcoming elections, Dr. R K Ranjan Singh humbly deferred to the decision of the party, stating that it was entirely up to them to make that determination.
