Vice President of the Bharatiya Janata Party Manipur Pradesh, Nongthombam Nimbus, described the Union Budget for the financial year 2026–27 as historic, stating that it laid a strong foundation for achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047, marking one hundred years of India’s Independence.
Speaking to media persons, Nongthombam Nimbus said the budget reflected a clear vision for empowering the youth and strengthening the country’s long-term growth trajectory. He stated that the budget was anchored in three core duties aimed at accelerating and sustaining economic growth by enhancing productivity and competitiveness while building resilience against volatile global dynamics. He added that the budget also sought to fulfil the aspirations of the people by building their capacities and making them active partners in India’s journey towards prosperity.
He further stated that the third focus of the budget was on the development of cutting-edge technologies, including applications of artificial intelligence, which would act as force multipliers for improved governance and efficient service delivery.
Nongthombam Nimbus said the Union Budget outlined a comprehensive roadmap for Viksit Bharat at 2047 through sustained economic growth and fiscal consolidation. He noted that it aimed at empowering the middle class, ensuring skilled manpower for national development, and strengthening youth through quality education. According to him, the budget also focused on unlocking the potential of micro, small and medium enterprises, expanding manufacturing at scale, and driving long-term growth through infrastructure development.
He added that the budget sought to position India as a global leader by boosting exports, strengthening the semiconductor ecosystem and promoting climate resilience along with energy self-reliance. He also highlighted provisions aimed at revitalising rural India, developing cities as growth connectors, empowering eastern India under the Purvodaya vision and supporting farmers through holistic welfare measures.
Stating that women were central to India’s growth story, Nongthombam Nimbus said the budget reflected the commitment of the Modi government to social justice, inclusive welfare, heritage preservation, tourism promotion and wildlife conservation, thereby advancing the spirit of Amrit Kaal.
