Either due to negligence or due to inadvertent mistake, many college-going undergraduate students who are affected by the ongoing crisis in Manipur have been left out from the lists submitted by the Directorate of University and Higher Education to benefit from the Chief Minister’s College Students Rehabilitation Scheme (CMCRS).
As informed, a total of 724 affected students’ name has been reported selected for getting the aspirant CMCRS scheme. However, many students studying at Ideals Girls College Akampat who have been indirectly affected after the college was set up as a relief camp, and those undergraduate students who are taking shelter in the college in the aftermath of the crisis that sparked on May 3.
The Directorate of University and Higher Education announced the names of students to be benefitted from CMCSRS on November 18. The scheme aims to provide integrated support and required educational facilities to displaced and affected undergraduate students from government colleges and government-aided colleges. However, these students affected by the ongoing crisis were denied the benefits as they are not on the beneficiary list.
The student body strongly condemns such acts towards students and urges the concerned authorities to take proper measures as such acts may cause drawbacks in the education sector and may increase the dropout rate.
