Reacting to Imphal Times news report regarding the utilization of UKLF cadres by army in Chandel operation, the SoO signatory UKLF term the news report as fabricated and false. In a press statement of the outfit signed by MP Haokip, Secretary, Information & Publicity it is stated that since the historic signing of tripartite Suspension of Operation (SoO) pact with the GoI and GoM, the UKLF has not conducted any kind of operation against any group as they are strictly adhering to trilaterally agreed ground rules of the SoO.
(Note: Imphal Times report carried yesterday was totally based on the interview of some of the villagers from Chandel district who had leaved their homes fearing unwanted consequences due to the ongoing counter insurgency operation. There is nothing wrong to the side of the UKLF in washing their hands to the allegations and Imphal Times welcomes any kind of clarifications from any quarter. Our Newspaper did try to contact cadres of the outfit before filing the story but unfortunately could not do so due to communication gap.
