Ukhrul mourns the death of 2 civilians : Civil bodies to meets today evening; likely to announce course of action

Large number of people today assembled at Tangkhul Nagalong (TNL) Ground at Ukhrul since early morning today and mourned the death of the two civilian protestors who were killed in police action yesterday.Report reaching here said that both the bodies of RamkashingVashi (s/o L. Christopher Vashi of Teinem Village, Ukhrul), and R. Mayopam (s/o L.R. Hangyui of Teinem Village, Ukhrul were conducting post mortem at Ukhrul District Hospital. Even if the post mortem is completed the gathering had decided to perform the funeral ceremony tomorrow.Speaking to Imphal Times, a representative of the Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong said that yesterday’s police excess might have been averted had the Assam Rifles troop intervene in time. Talking over phone he said today Manipur Police Commando people were hardly seen coming to the proximity of the Tangkhulong ground. He said there were some Assam Rifle personnel seen on duty nearby.Representatives of the Naga People Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR), Naga Women Union (NWU), All Naga Students’ Association of Manipur (ANSAM) and other representatives of Naga Frontal bodies had arrived at the gathering spot but the gathering could not announced the course of agitation as more Naga frontal bodies from the neighbouring Nagaland as well as from other part of the Manipur are arriving at the ground.Following the tense situation life remain completely freezing with all shops and business establishment shuts.
