Ukhrul, April 20:
In a deeply emotional condemnation, MLA Ram Muivah has strongly denounced the brutal ambush and killing of two innocent civilians — S.W. Chinaoshang of Tashar village and Yaruingam Vashum of Kharasom — who were murdered by armed militants near T.M. Kasom along National Highway-202 on April 18, 2026.
Describing the incident as “shocking, appalling, and inhuman,” the MLA expressed profound anguish over what he termed a senseless act of violence that has shaken the conscience of society. In his condemnation letter, Muivah stated that the cold-blooded killing of unarmed civilians represents not only a grave crime against humanity but also a direct assault on the values of peace, dignity, and coexistence cherished by civilised communities.
He asserted that no ideology, grievance, or political cause can ever justify the taking of innocent lives. According to him, such acts of brutality only deepen divisions, spread fear among citizens, and leave lasting scars on families and communities that may take generations to heal.
Extending heartfelt solidarity to the bereaved families, the MLA acknowledged the immeasurable loss suffered by loved ones of the victims and conveyed his deepest condolences during what he described as a moment of unbearable grief and sorrow.
Calling for immediate action, Muivah urged the concerned authorities and security agencies to conduct a swift and decisive investigation to identify and punish those responsible. Ensuring accountability, he stressed, is essential not only for justice but also to send a strong message that violence and terror will never be tolerated.
At a time of growing tension, the legislator appealed to all sections of society to stand united against violence and reaffirm collective commitment to peace, harmony, and the rule of law.
“Let hatred and brutality not define us,” he emphasised, urging people to rise together in resilience, compassion, and shared humanity.
