Imphal, Feb 21:
All College Tribal Students Union Imphal has warned that the state government will face agitation if the second phase of scholarship disbursement for the 2022-23 academic session is not expedited before the end of February.
All College Tribal Students Union Imphal, represented by its Human Resources Secretary Wichamdinbou Charenamai, issued a warning today at the Manipur Press Club Imphal, indicating potential agitation if the second phase of scholarship disbursement for the 2022-23 academic session is not expedited.
Charenamai expressed frustration over the delay in disbursing the scholarship, which was sanctioned by the Central government in December 18, 2023. Despite assurances from authorities, the second phase of the scholarship remains pending.
“While the scholarship for the first phase of the academic session has been disbursed, the delay in the second phase is deeply concerning,” stated Charenamai. “Repeated inquiries with the concerned department have yielded promises for disbursement in December and January, yet the funds have not materialized.”
Charenamai emphasized the urgency of the situation, noting that if the scholarship is not sanctioned by the end of February, the union will initiate democratic agitation. He underscored that the funds should have been disbursed last year and expressed disappointment on behalf of the affected tribal students.
