Transport department employees union reacts against transport society’s allegation

Imphal July 22: All Manipur Transport Department Employees Union today reacted against the allegations made by the transport societies of Tiddim Road against the employees of Transport Department who were on their duty. In a press meet held today at Transport Directorate, members of All Manipur Transport Department Employees Union said that no one need to interfere while performing duty by the employees of Transport Department. The members said that the Transport Department employees conducted normal checking and detained six Tata Winger. The registration numbers of the vehicles are MN01W8917, MN01S-4139, MN04A-8816, MN01W-9759, MN01W-1212 and MN05C-0913.  All the vehicles were detained since there were no documents with them. As per Motor Vehicle Act, the vehicles should be released after the payment of compound fee and tax. Besides this, two heavy vehicles with registration number MN02/5406 and MN05/0635 did not pay their tax since 1-1-2012 and 1-4-2006 respectively. The payable tax for MN02/5406 is 23,010 and MN05/0635 is 57,540. The members further said that the decision of passenger vehicles plying on Tiddim Road to stop service is unreasonable.
