Torch Rally held over Tronglaobi killings

Local clubs and Meira Paibi groups of Konthoujam organised a torch rally yesterday evening condemning the killing of two children and three civilians at Tronglaobi.
The rally, which saw participation from a large number of residents, including members of the Kabui community, began from Konthoujam Lairembi Temple and proceeded via Sagoltongba towards Keithelmanbi along the Imphal–Jiri road.
Addressing the gathering, President of Konthoujam Apunba Lup, Ch. Manitomba, demanded that those responsible for the killing of the five civilians at Tronglaobi be identified and punished at the earliest.
He alleged that the BJP-led governments at the Centre and in the State have failed to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of civilians, leading to recurring incidents of violence.
Referring to the broader situation, he stated that the Tronglaobi incident was not isolated and cited the recent killing of two Tangkhul civilians at TM Kasom in Ukhrul district.
He also expressed concern over the rising unrest in the state and called for unity among communities to address the challenges. He further stated that the people of Konthoujam would extend full support to movements seeking justice for the victims.
The Ayangpalli Progressive Women’s Organisation also organized a candle light vigils mourning the dead of two minors at Tronglaobi yesterday evening .
