TMC staff stage sit-in protest against unjust demands and threats

Staff members of the Thoubal Municipal Council (TMC) today staged a sit-in protest at the TMC complex condemning what they described as unbearable monetary demands and repeated threats made against them.
During the protest, the staff held placards reading “Stop Unjust Demands,” “We Want Protection,” “End Intimidation of Employees,” and “Stop the Threats.”
Speaking to reporters, Sanasam Memthoibi, an LDC of the TMC, said the continuous monetary demands placed upon the council staff were deeply distressing and unacceptable. She added that despite the council’s limited financial resources and irregular fund flow, sanitation workers have been discharging their duties with dedication, but undue monetary demands have made their situation even more difficult.
She further stated that due to these pressures, both the staff and the general public have been suffering, as essential municipal services in the localities are being affected. The employees appealed for immediate intervention to ensure their safety and to put an end to such threats and unjust demands.
