Three persons were shot at legs by unknown armed assailants at Charangpat road in Thoubal district under Yairipok Police Station at around 2 pm today.
The three injured persons were identified as Md. Musharaf (20) of Yairipok Bamol Leikai, Md. Ruhish (18) of Yairipok Ningthounai Ngoubong Keithel and Md. Warish of Yairipok Singga Mathak Leikai. They were left after shooting at their thighs at the junction of Chrangpat road. A team of Manipur police rushed to the site and evacuated them at Community Health Center Yairipok and referred them to Hospital in Imphal after giving first aid.
No organisation has so far claimed responsibility for the incident. Source from the locality said that the three are involved in drug trafficking, even though the reason for the shooting has not been known. A case is registered at Yairipok Police Station.
On the other hand, an armed group reportedly abducted 3 (three) alleged Heroin No. 4 smugglers from Yairipok Keisamat around midnight yesterday.
A reliable source said that Club members and Meira Paibis of Yairipok Keisham rounded up the three persons along with 1 kg of Herion No. 4 while coming in an I-20 Car. Later, a group of armed persons belonging to an insurgent group pulled them up.
