A three-day training programme on indigenous jewelry and antique ornaments making commenced today at the Hall of Maha Area Chief Association, Panchai, Chandel district. The programme is being organised by the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Chandel under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Scheme.
The inaugural function was graced by Dr. N. Munal Meitei, DFO Chandel, Dr. B.D. Thumdal Anal, retired principal of United College Chandel, and W.S. Jesjila Anal, the chief trainer, as members of the presidium.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. N. Munal Meitei highlighted the cultural importance of indigenous ornaments, stating that jewelry not only adorns the body but also reflects the traditions of a community. He stressed that the use of traditional attire and ornaments cannot be based merely on personal preference but requires deeper knowledge of their cultural significance. He further informed that Master Trainer W.S. Jesjila Anal will lead the sessions during the three-day programme.
Dr. B.D. Thumdal Anal, described the programme as timely and essential in today’s era. He urged participants to value and preserve their cultural heritage instead of relying on external influences. He also encouraged trainees to gain as much knowledge as possible from experts through the training sessions.
The training programme was attended by 43 trainees.
