Chairman of the Thoubal Municipal Council had allegedly assaulted and humiliated vendor ladies who were selling fish at Thoubal keithel yesterday evening. The Chairman also allegedly scolded the vendor lady using slang language and saying that even the Chief Minister cannot do anything as he is the real authority in the Thoubal Keithel and not the Chief Minister.
Denouncing the act fish vendor lady of Thoubal Keithel today staged a protest demonstration in front of Thoubal Haokha NRL pump. A fish vendor lady while speaking to media persons said that due to construction works of the Keithel, they were told to shift time and again at different places. After the completion of the construction of the Keithel they were shifted to their place. As the Chairman once more asked them to shift at some other place the fish vendor lady objected it and spent the night at the Keithel as the said chairman often used to misplace their belongings kept the Keithel. A Lady further said that the Chairman Y. Bijen Singh along with a police team came at the Keithel yesterday night and tried to drive them out from their places. As they refuse Y. Bijen started assaulting a vendor lady using slang language saying that even the CM can’t do anything to stop him as he is the real authority of the keithel. The lady assaulted by Y Bijen has been identified as S. Chaobi Devi (age 74) of Thoubal Sagoltongba. Another vendor lady was also reportedly injured when the police team who came along with him pushed her. The injured lady in police action has been identified as Ng Silla (50) of Thoubal Kiyam Siphai.
