The Thoubal District VDF Welfare Association organised a fellowship and interaction programme with senior police officials at the Khongjom War Memorial Complex on Saturday. The programme was attended by Inspector General of Police Jogeshchandra Haobijam and Superintendent of Police, Thoubal, Manoj Prabhakar.
The initiative was organised to strengthen coordination and mutual understanding between Village Defence Force personnel and the district police in the interest of maintaining law and order in Manipur.
Addressing the gathering, Superintendent of Police Manoj Prabhakar appreciated the dedicated service rendered by VDF personnel in maintaining peace and stability in the district. He acknowledged their consistent support to the police force in field-level operations and urged them to continue discharging their duties with commitment and discipline.
Md. Idris, President of the Thoubal District VDF Welfare Association and General Secretary of the All Manipur VDF Employees Welfare Committee, placed before the officials the key demands of VDF personnel, including enhancement of honorarium and improvement of basic facilities. He expressed gratitude to the Governor of Manipur and the State Government for revising the honorarium and stated that the association would continue to work in close coordination with the police authorities.
During the programme, the association announced an enhancement of death benefit assistance for bereaved families of VDF personnel under Thoubal district. The assistance amount has been increased by Rs 50,000, raising the total benefit to Rs 3 lakh. The proposal has received formal approval from the Superintendent of Police, Thoubal, and will come into effect from the 17th VDF Raising Day to be observed on March 6, 2026.
Md. Idris further called upon VDF personnel to remain united, disciplined and dedicated in performing their assigned responsibilities in coordination with the police force.
The programme concluded with a renewed commitment from both VDF and police officials to strengthen institutional cooperation for ensuring public safety and effective law enforcement in the district.
