The Federation of Haomee (FoH) has warned that any individual or organisation supplying goods or other assistance to the Kuki community would be regarded as an enemy and held accountable.
In a statement issued by its president, Sapamcha Jadumani, the Federation called upon the Meitei and Naga communities to jointly enforce a comprehensive economic blockade by stopping the supply of essential commodities to Kuki-inhabited areas. It claimed that an economic blockade is the only effective means to counter what it described as continued aggression by Kuki armed groups.
The Federation also appealed to the public to remain cautious of political leaders whom it alleged are supporting Kuki refugees and attempting to fulfil the demands of what it termed “Kuki foreigners.”
It alleged that despite the loss of lives and destruction of property since the outbreak of ethnic violence on May 3, 2023, the government has failed to take effective action against those responsible. It further claimed that Kuki armed groups continue to possess sophisticated weapons and launch attacks on indigenous communities.
The organisation also alleged that prolonged blockades on the National Highways had caused severe hardship to valley residents and claimed that repeated appeals for justice for those killed and the recovery of missing persons had not yielded any meaningful response.
The Federation urged all indigenous communities of Manipur to continue the economic blockade until justice is delivered for the victims, missing persons are accounted for, and what it described as “Kuki foreigners” leave the state.
