Thorcham Villagers of Chandel district stopped getting electricity since 2015

Even as the Thorchang Village in Chandel district of Chakpikarong Sub-Division have been recorded as electrified village in government document, the villagers have been cut off from electric connection since 2015 till today.
“In 2015 the village was electrified but after providing electricity for one month the government has stopped electric supply till today”, village Chief RL Moel told media persons who visited the village today.
RL Moel further told that Chandel district has been included among the aspirant districts of India and various union ministers has been visiting the district to review the developmental works being taken up. However, Thorchang Village under the Chakpikarong sub division of Chandel district has not seen electricity since 2015 after the HT line was cut off in a storm.
“Since then the villagers have been complaining to the government authority to repair the electric connection but the authority deaf,” the village chief said. He added that the transformer installed has been cover up with bushes and the people particularly the students and the elders are facing inconveniences in the absence of electricity.
The village chief appealed the government to reconnect electricity to the village before Christmas this year.
