Mutum Sonarjit Singh s/o Mutum Jugidro Singh & Mutum (Ongbi) Bedabati Devi of Khoijuma Ward No:2, Bishnupur District, cracked JEE Advance and qualified to study in Indian Premier Technical Institutions IIT in his first attempt at  5446 All India rank.

Sonarjit Singh had his schooling from class Nursery to class V at one of the local School, then from Class VI to XII at JNV, Bishnupur. He passed his Class X exam from JNV Bishnupur with CGPA 9.8 and XII Science Exam from the same school with 87.6%.Not like other students he did not had the chance to go for extra tuition as his family is in acute poverty. His father was a Diploma in Electrical Engineering but did not get any chance to be a government employee because of poverty. His mother is a simple house wife though a graduate in Arts. His father was plying an Auto but due to BP stroke few years ago he stopped that also ,though recovered from his illness still cannot do hard work. His mother generally works at the fields as laborer just to maintain the family. Whenever Sonarjit got holiday /vacation, he will help her mother in doing the works at the fields. Sonarjit has one elder sister, one younger brother and one younger sister. Though he cracked JEE Advance and got a chance to study in IITs he is in a state of dilemma and disappointment whether he can continue to study in IITs or not because of the huge amount to be incurred in IITs.
