Tension grips RIMS morgue after authority conducted post mortem before family of the deceased arrived

Imphal, April 25: Tension runs high among two groups of people at RIMS Morgue after authority allegedly conducted post mortem of a lady who was found hung to death on April 23, before the arrival of the family members.
Member of Bhamdier Gram Panchayat, Laishram Mangolnanbi while speaking to reporter at RIMS morgue said that both the family member of the decease lady and her husband’s had agreed to conduct the post mortem in the presence of representatives from both side. She said the government authority had also agreed to conduct the post mortem using video coverage. However, when the family member of the deceased lady came at the morgue it was told that the post mortem had already been conducted.
The deceased lady identified as Ningthoujam Ningol Mutum Ongbi Angali Devi ( aged about 21 years) wife of Mutum Gautam (aged about 22 years) was found hung to death at around 5 pm at her room at the residence of her husband at Yurembam Awang Leikai on April 23. Instead of informing about the incident to her parental home located at Bhamdier Ahallup Awang leikai, the deceased husband M Goutam, his father M Joy and mother Premila went to the Police station and surrendered.
The family of the deceased lady was informed by a local who co-incidentally visited the locality at Yurembam Awang leikai. After receiving the information the father of the deceased lady Ningthoujam Dilip along with people of his locality came to his daughters’ place. By the time they reached the spot it was around 7.30pm and a police team had reportedly taken the dead body at RIMS morgue.
The post mortem was supposed to conduct yesterday, however, due to Sunday both the parties agreed to conduct the post mortem today in the presence of representatives from both side.
Member L Mangolnganbi said that the IO seemed to have been bribed by the in-laws of the deceased. She demanded immediate clarification from the side of the police department on why the police allowed to conduct without the presence of any representatives from the deceased side.
She further said that the dead body will not be accepted until justice is delivered.
