Tension grips Cheirao Chingkhong area after RAF assaulted civilians

Tension runs high among the people of Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai near Cheirao Chingkhong (Foothill of Cheirao Ching) after a group of Rapid Action Forces (RAF) assaulted two civilians. The RAF personnel also allegedly assaulted the driver of the vehicle that they have been riding.
Report said that at around 1.30 pm today afternoon, around ten vehicles of the RAF came to Cheiroaching. Surprise over the scene, Meira Paibi and the Club members of the area gathered at the foothills. Around 9 vehicles had already climbed up to the Cheiraoching. A vehicle was however stopped by the locals and asked for the reason of the climbing the Cheiraoching. When the local Meira Paibis were enquiring the purpose of the visit, some personnel of the RAF came down and stated assaulting the civilian using the butt of their weapon.
They even assaulted the driver of the vehicle that they were brought for stopping the vehicle. Two locals of Thangmeiband Sinam leikai were injured in the RAF action. They have been identified as Wangkhem Bedajit (27 yrs) and Ningthoujam Bonny @ Shemphu.
Following the incident more people thronged the site and a police team led by Additional SP Imphal West also rushed the site. The police team controlled the situation after making the RAF apologized to the localities.
