Imphal, Nov 11:

A day after the declaration of the by-election result of Wangjing Thentha assembly constituency along with others, tension grips at Wangjing over alleged disparities to the distribution of NFSA rice. The incident reportedly happened between the agent and the people who went to collect the NFSA rice at Moirangthem Leirak area of ward No. 4 of Wangjing Lamding Municipal Council.

Speaking to reporters regarding the incident, one Leishangthem Usarani said that she along with some went for collection of NFSA rice after the agents of Polling No. 34/13 told them to collect the rice. She alleged that when she went to the Agent at Moirangthem Leirak of Ward No. 4 , BJP supporters were provided 10 Kg of rice each at free of cost while INC supporters were given only 5 kg of rice at the cost of Rs. 3 per kg.

She further said , the agent told them that there will not be free distribution of NFSA rice in connection with the COVID -19 pandemic but each family will get 5 kg each  at the cost of Rs. 3 per kg but for those BJP workers and supporters the the MLA have decided to distribute 10 kg of rice each at free of cost. On hearing that she returned back without taking the rice.

Those who already collected the 5 Kg of NFSA rice by paying Rs. 3 also return back the rice. While doing so the agent allegedly told them to sign in a blank paper for returning the rice.

The local then also allegedly told the agent to sign as they were not provided the exact share of rice . Following that a heated argument occurred between the agent group and those INC supporters.
