Temporary traffic restrictions imposed in parts of Imphal West for SPC road works

Temporary traffic arrangements have been enforced in several parts of Imphal West district in view of the ongoing Short Panel Concrete laying works under the Construction of Rigid Pavement and Line Drain project aimed at improving urban infrastructure.
According to the authorities, the SPC laying work is currently underway on the northern side of Dingku Road, the northern side of New Assembly Road, the western side of Thangmeiband Road from Watham Leirak to Khuyathong, and the northern side of Uripok Kangchup Road from Laishram Leirak to the flyover. One side of these road stretches will remain closed to traffic from February 4, 2026, until the completion of the work.
To facilitate vehicular movement, the opposite sides of the affected roads will function as double-way roads during the construction period. In this regard, the southern side of Dingku Road, the southern side of New Assembly Road, the eastern side of Thangmeiband Road from Watham Leirak to Khuyathong, and the southern side of Uripok Kangchup Road from Laishram Leirak to the flyover will carry two-way traffic.
The public, including residents, shopkeepers and commercial establishments, has been requested not to park vehicles along these double-way stretches, as roadside parking may obstruct traffic flow and lead to congestion.
Authorities have cautioned that traffic congestion is likely due to the temporary arrangements and that vehicle diversions may be enforced on a need basis depending on traffic volume. Road users have been advised to plan their journeys in advance and use alternative routes wherever possible.
The SPC laying work is being undertaken in public interest to ensure better infrastructure, improved civic facilities and long-term urban development of Imphal city. While expressing regret for the inconvenience caused, the authorities have appealed to the public to extend full cooperation for smooth traffic regulation during the construction period.
