Imphal, Nov 5:

Dhanamanjuri University Teachers’ Association (DMUTA) has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister N Biren and the Education Minister expressing their disappointment and highlighting several outstanding issues of Dhanamanjuri University (DMU).
The memorandum stated that the Ad-hoc Committee of the Constituent Colleges of Dhanamanjuri University (now replaced by DMUTA w.e.f. the 22nd October, 2021) has been urging the concerned authority for absorption of the existing teachers (including the Principals and utilized teachers) of the constituent colleges of DMU into DMU before any process for fresh recruitment. The Ad-hoc Committee even launched a series of agitations including abstention from online and offline classes and sit-in protests starting from the 5th January, 2021.
It further added that the Ad-hoc Committee temporarily suspended the agitation, after positive assurances by Chief Minister, N. Biren Singh during a meeting in his office chamber on the 11th January, 2021, in the presence of the Education Minister, S. Rajen Singh and the then VC of DMU/Commissioner, M. Harekrishna.
Earlier, the Ad-hoc committee had also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister and the Education Minister on the 19th August, 2021 reiterating the demands of the Ad hoc Committee.
“The Directorate of University and Higher Education, Government of Manipur, initiated a preliminary survey on the possible number of teachers of all government colleges of Manipur opting for absorption into Dhanamanjuri University (through a letter No. 3/3-116/2018-UHE dated September 21, 2021). We were also informed of the process of bifurcation of posts for DMU being initiated by the government”, the memorandum added.
The memorandum further added that in the midst of these developments, our Registrar, DMU very recently issued a Notice (No. 3/1/2018-DMU/Rect/2020-1, dated the 1 October, 2021) notifying the Call letters for Personal Interview for direct recruitment of Assistant Professors. This is indeed deliberate and conscious neglect and sidelining of the demands of the Ad-hoc Committee/DMUTA. In the light of the above-stated points, we request you to kindly take up appropriate and necessary actions, especially the bifurcation of posts for DMU, as soon as possible in the larger interest of the new university. DMUTA reiterates the hope that the Chief Minister and our Education Minister will kindly deliver on the assurances given to the team of the then Ad-hoc Committee in the Meeting of the 11th January 2021. DMUTA is also especially concerned that even after three and half years when the Dhanamanjuri University was formally created on the 6th April, 2018, the new university is yet to be recognised under 12 B of the UGC Regulations.
