Students stage sit-in protest at Khangabok

Students of Khangabok Higher Secondary School in Thoubal district staged a sit-in protest today, expressing concern over the prevailing situation in Manipur and calling for peace and stability.

The protest, organised with the support of teachers, was held under the banner of a Students’ Sit-in Protest. Addressing the gathering, Naresh Khundrakpam, President of the Manipur Students’ Federation (MSF), Thoubal District Committee, said the demonstration was aimed at voicing opposition to the ongoing violence and unrest in the state and to ensure that students can pursue their education without fear or disruption.

The protesting students displayed placards carrying messages such as “Let Us Live in Freedom,” “Stop Killing Innocent Civilians and Children Through Proxy War,” “We Want Peace,” “We Oppose the Actions Carried Out by the Indian Military in Ukhrul,” and “Let Us Pursue Our Education Properly.”

The students stressed the need for a peaceful environment conducive to learning and urged all concerned to work towards restoring normalcy in the state.

Naresh Khundrakpam stated that similar student-led protests would be organised in other educational institutions in the coming days to raise awareness among young people about the ongoing situation and encourage collective efforts towards peace and a better future for Manipur.
